Police Dismantle Suspected Pipeline Vandalism Syndicate, Arrest Seven in Adamawa
The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against economic sabotage with the arrest of seven suspected members of a pipeline vandalism syndicate in Adamawa State.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering.
According to the Police, the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation at a suspected hideout in Kwarami, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, following credible information on the activities of the criminal group.
During the raid, security operatives recovered 285 vandalised pipeline sections, six gas cylinders, shovels and other digging equipment allegedly used in carrying out attacks on critical national infrastructure.
The Police described the operation as part of sustained efforts to curb pipeline vandalism, protect strategic national assets and combat economic crimes across the country.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate who fled the scene during the operation. The seven suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure and called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations against pipeline vandalism, illegal bunkering and other forms of economic sabotage.
