PVC is the weapon for good governance – Asejere
By Richard Akintade, Osogbo
As INEC commences Voter Registration exercise on Monday, 18th August 2025, Osun State Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere, has reiterated that the PVC is the weapon for good governance in the state and Country.
The Commissioner in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen admonished the entire people of Osun Central Senatorial District and the state to come out and exercise their franchise without fear of molestation or intimidation.
According to Aare Asejere, “We must all take this civic responsibility seriously. Let every youth, every woman, every man, every artisan, every trader, every professional, civil servants come out and register. Let us do it early, let us do it right. Together, we will build the Osun Central of our dreams.
“I also call on all community leaders, youth groups, religious institutions, and civil society organizations to help in mobilizing the people around them. Let us encourage our brothers and sisters to participate.
“Let us use this moment to demonstrate our unalloyed support and loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun, the people’s governor. This is our chance to ensure that the good works continue and the people’s mandate is protected.
“I enjoin all citizens of Osun State who are of voting age to get registered as Osun deserves better, but we can only make it happen if we register for us to be eligible to vote.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that online pre-registration will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025, while physical biometric capturing will begin at designated registration centers on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily.
“If you are a first-time registrant, if you have lost your PVC, if you’ve relocated to another polling unit or state, or if there are any errors on your current voter card, this is the time to get it right. This registration also covers those with damaged or unreadable PVCs, or those who simply need a transfer or replacement.
“Your PVC is your power. It is your voice and your authority in a democratic society. It is the key to shaping the kind of future you want for yourself, your children, and Osun State. Without it, you cannot vote, and without voting, you cannot be part of the decision-making process.
“We must all take this civic responsibility seriously. Let every youth, every woman, every man, every artisan, every trader, every professional come out and register. Let us do it early, let us do it right. Together, we will build the Osun Central of our dreams.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge every eligible citizen, especially in Osun Central, to get ready for the CVR exercise while I also admonished you to cooperate with the INEC officials” Aare Asejere concluded.
