Senate gives nod to nomination of Cardoso as CBN governor
The Senate has confirmed Dr. Olayemi Cardoso’s nomination as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Cardoso was chosen with four other candidates for the role of CBN Deputy Governor, which would oversee the apex bank’s operations for the next five years.
Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello are the deputy governors.

Recall that Cardoso took over as CBN governor in an acting capacity last week, pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.
Meanwhile, the Senate has set President Bola Tinubu’s vetting of two additional cabinet nominations for Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
While the National Assembly was in recess, the President named Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively.
