Swearing-in: Be agents of change, unity, NYSC boss urges corps members

Mrs Ada Imoni, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Gombe State, has urged the 1,235 newly sworn-in corps members in Gombe state to be agents of change and unity in  communities where they would be posted to.

Imoni made the call during the low key swearing-in ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members on Friday at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in Amada community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state.

The coordinator said that serving one’s fatherland, calls for diligence, sacrifice, love and tolerance.

”All corps members must strive to maintain the good name of their families, school and even the corps so as to make the communities where they will be posted to a better society.

“Look at the needs of the community, work hand-in-hand with the members of such communities to bring good and positive change as a way of contributing to national development.

“Good character matters a lot and just as our Director-General, Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim told you virtually this morning that any character exhibited may hunt you in future, hence we must be well-behaved.”

Imoni, however, warned corps members that any anti-social behaviour from them would not be tolerated as anyone involved in such acts would be sanctioned in accordance with the NYSC bye-laws.

She also charged the corps members to take responsibility in the fight against COVID-19 by maintaining the laid down protocols of hand washing, face masks wearing, use of sanitisers and physical distancing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Acting Chief Judge of Gombe state, Justice Muazu Pindiga.
