Taraba governor condemns removal of history from schools curriculum

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has condemned the Federal Government’s removal of the History Subject from the school curriculum in the country.

According to him, the subject could be used to intimate students with the history of the Country so as to improve on past experiences.

The Governor disclosed this during a courtesy visit to him by newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University Wukari.

He encouraged the VC to set the ball rolling by adopting some special courses for the University to run like other Universities that are known for engineering, humanities and others.

Governor Ishaku revealed that he refused to interfere with the appointment of the new VC because he wanted the institution to serve as an example in doing the right thing.

The Governor revealed the state government has a high hope on the VC and that much is expected from him, according to the Ishaku this was in view of the progresses made by the former VC.

On his part, the VC Jude Rabo, stated that the visit was to seek cordial working relationship with government and to join hands with the state governor in uplifting and developing the University to its full potentials.

The Chairman of Council of the University, Lawrence Mbale, who thanked Governor Ishaku for not interfering with the appointment process of the new VC, earlier stated that the act has enabled the council to pick the best.
