The Kaduna State Government has commenced the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Mando–Birnin Gwari Road, a major infrastructure project expected to improve connectivity, strengthen economic activities and promote lasting peace across communities along the corridor.

Governor Uba Sani, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the groundbreaking ceremony, described the project as a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, security and inclusive economic growth.

Governor Sani said the reconstruction of the road, which had remained in need of comprehensive rehabilitation for more than three decades, would restore a critical transportation and commercial link between communities in Kaduna State and beyond.

According to him, the project goes beyond road construction, as it is expected to reconnect communities, unlock agricultural opportunities, facilitate trade, strengthen food security and contribute to national cohesion.

He noted that peace and development are mutually reinforcing, stressing that improved security creates an enabling environment for investment and economic growth, while inclusive development helps strengthen the foundations of sustainable peace.

Representing the President, Governor Sani conveyed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of Nigerians through strategic investments in infrastructure, security and economic development.

He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the project and ensuring the release of the necessary resources for its execution.

The Governor also commended the Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, and the Federal Ministry of Works for their commitment to the project.

He welcomed J. Patel & Sons Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the reconstruction, and expressed confidence that the company would deliver durable and high-quality infrastructure.

Governor Sani further appreciated traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders for their support and recognition of ongoing efforts to improve security and infrastructure across Kaduna State.

He said the project represents another step towards building a Kaduna that is more peaceful, connected, economically vibrant and prosperous, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to working with the Federal Government to deliver projects that directly improve the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
