Tinubu Commends Youth Support Groups for Promoting Renewed Hope Agenda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigerian youths and youth support groups for their contributions to communicating government policies, mobilising grassroots support and advancing his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The President gave the commendation while addressing young supporters under the City Boy Movement at the State House, Abuja. He acknowledged their support over the past three years, particularly during the implementation of major economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, currency reforms and tax system restructuring.

Tinubu said young Nigerians had remained engaged in national affairs despite the challenges associated with the reforms, describing their participation as an important contribution to shaping the country’s future.

“You understood that a nation cannot borrow its way to greatness. You were patient when patience was hard,” the President said, acknowledging the efforts of young supporters who communicated his administration’s policies in markets, campuses, motor parks and on social media.

He recognised the contributions of the City Boy Movement, Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria and other support groups operating across Nigeria and in the diaspora.

The President praised the City Boy Movement for establishing a grassroots organisational structure, community engagement initiatives and the City Boys Care programme. He also commended Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria for its efforts to communicate the administration’s policies and activities.

Tinubu further acknowledged young members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by its National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, for their involvement in party activities and grassroots mobilisation. He assured young Nigerians that they would continue to have opportunities to participate in the party, government and national development.

On youth development, the President highlighted initiatives including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CREDICORP) and the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.

He said the initiatives were designed to expand young Nigerians’ access to education, credit and digital skills, enabling them to participate more meaningfully in the economy and compete globally.

The President also stressed the importance of giving young people greater responsibility in governance and decision-making, noting that their involvement was essential to building a future that reflects their aspirations.

In a personal tribute, Tinubu commended his son, Seyi Tinubu, patron of the City Boy Movement, for establishing and organising the group. He encouraged him and other young Nigerians to deepen their commitment to public service and community engagement.

Tinubu also urged his supporters to pursue lawful and peaceful political participation ahead of the January 16 elections, mobilise eligible voters and encourage citizens to obtain and use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He emphasised that political engagement should be driven by ideas, constructive dialogue and peaceful mobilisation rather than violence.

Shettima, Abbas, Barau Commend Youth Mobilisation

In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima said the President’s decision to address longstanding economic challenges had helped avert a deeper crisis that further delays in implementing critical reforms could have caused.

Shettima acknowledged the economic pressures Nigerians had endured, expressing optimism that the sacrifices would translate into improved livelihoods, greater opportunities and better living conditions.

He credited Tinubu’s approach to structural reforms with distinguishing the administration’s economic agenda, while also commending the President’s leadership for encouraging political cooperation and accommodating diverse interests.

The Vice President also praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her contributions to national development and thanked the City Boy Movement for its support, urging members to promote national unity and responsible political engagement.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, commended the movement for its patriotism, organisational structure and commitment to national development.

Abbas urged the group to incorporate the legislative achievements of the Tinubu administration into its artificial intelligence-driven platform, which presents information about government activities and responds to questions from Nigerians.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau also expressed surprise at the movement’s use of technology and artificial intelligence to gather data and organise its political mobilisation efforts. He encouraged other organisations to adopt similar approaches.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, commended Tinubu for his investment in young Nigerians and his mentorship of emerging leaders, dating back to his tenure as governor of Lagos State.

City Boy Movement Reports 4.8 Million Registered Members

In his address, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, said the group had registered 4.8 million members in its database under the slogan, “Inform, Engage, Inspire.”

Shoga assured the President that the movement was committed to communicating the administration’s achievements nationwide and encouraging young Nigerians to participate responsibly in national development.

“We are not just raising members; we are building leaders. Wherever we find young Nigerians, we will carry the message of renewed hope,” he said.

The Director-General of Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, Ahmed Bala, said the group aimed to deliver 10 million votes for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, arguing that continued support would enable the administration to complete its reform programmes.

Bala added that the reforms had placed the country on a path towards economic improvement and said Nigerian youths drew inspiration from the President’s resilience and foresight.

Members of the Federal Executive Council and the National Assembly, senior government officials, traditional rulers and a large number of young supporters attended the gathering.
