The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope housing programme is expanding access to affordable homes and improving living standards, with more than 10,000 housing units under construction across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Idris disclosed this in Abuja on Friday during the 20th Anniversary Gala and Award Night of Abuja Property Development Company (APDC) Limited, where he highlighted the Federal Government’s investment in housing development and mortgage financing to address Nigeria’s housing deficit.

He said the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding homeownership opportunities through sustained investment, strategic partnerships and innovative financing.

According to the Minister, housing development goes beyond constructing buildings, as it also involves creating communities where families can live, businesses can thrive and economic activities can grow.

He urged property developers to uphold high standards, embrace responsible planning and ensure that their projects meet the needs of families and communities.

Idris, a former Chairman of APDC’s Board of Directors, congratulated the company on its 20th anniversary and commended its management, staff and stakeholders for their contributions to its growth and development.

At the event, APDC presented the Minister with an award in recognition of his service as former chairman of the company’s board. The plaque acknowledged his leadership during his two tenures and described his stewardship as instrumental to the company’s development, structure and reputation.

The Minister expressed optimism that APDC would build on its two decades of experience and continue to contribute to Abuja’s growth through quality housing delivery and responsible property development.

Those in attendance included the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investment Company Limited, represented by Dr Abiodun Akambi; the Acting Managing Director of APDC, Mr Akeem Aderogba; former APDC Managing Director, Mallam Lawal Magaji; as well as the company’s executives, management, staff and other dignitaries.

Rabiu Ibrahim, MNIPR, is the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation.
