The operation was carried out in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, where soldiers on routine patrol reportedly intercepted suspected terrorists transporting abducted civilians on motorcycles. The victims are believed to have been kidnapped earlier from Kure village and were being moved to an undisclosed location when troops closed in on the criminals.
Military sources disclosed that the suspects abandoned the captives and fled into nearby bushes upon sighting the advancing troops, leaving the victims behind. The swift intervention by the soldiers ensured the safe recovery of all six individuals without casualties.
The rescued victims were identified as Usman, 24; Baba Usman, 56; Hassan, 22; Sunusi, 23; Abdullahi Yahaya, 28; and Sule, 15.
Security officials said the victims have been evacuated to a safe location where they are receiving necessary assistance before being reunited with their families.
The latest operation is seen as another indication of the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist and kidnapping groups operating across the North-West. Through sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations and rapid response missions, troops have continued to target criminal networks and deny them freedom of movement.
Military authorities noted that the operation demonstrates the importance of proactive security deployments in vulnerable communities, particularly in areas frequently targeted by kidnappers and armed groups.
They reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to sustaining ongoing offensives against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
The successful rescue adds to a series of recent operational gains recorded under Operation FANSAN YAMMA as efforts continue to enhance security and protect communities across the North-West region.
