Security sources disclosed that the troops engaged the terrorists near Sabarumawa while carrying out an offensive mission aimed at flushing out criminal elements and denying them freedom of movement within the area.

The operation reportedly led to a fierce gun battle, during which the troops overpowered the terrorists, killing two of them. Several others are believed to have escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, nine AK-47 magazines, quantities of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and a motorcycle suspected to have been used by the fleeing terrorists.

Military authorities described the operation as part of the sustained campaign under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt their logistics chains, and strengthen security across the North-West region.

The Armed Forces have reaffirmed their determination to maintain pressure on terrorist and criminal groups operating in the region, while encouraging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.

The latest success underscores ongoing efforts by troops to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorist groups and enhance the safety of communities across Kebbi State and neighbouring areas.
