Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 11 kidnapped victims in two separate operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operations, carried out on October 30 and 31, 2026, followed swift responses by troops deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in the area.
In the first operation, troops responded to a distress call reporting that armed bandits had blocked a road leading to Ribah town and were attempting to enter the community.
On arrival, the soldiers discovered that some residents had been abducted, while motorcycles were abandoned at the scene. The troops pursued the fleeing attackers and engaged them in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon seven kidnapped victims.
The rescued victims were identified as Sa’adu Bala, Dantani Yahyi, Nura Musa, Nasiru Muhammad, Abdulakeem Abubakar, Abdulahi Maikudi and Zaki Gom. They have since been reunited with their families.
In a separate operation in the Wasagu area, troops conducting patrols came under fire from suspected terrorists. The soldiers responded, forcing the attackers to flee and abandon four people who had earlier been kidnapped from their farms in Wasagu Village.
The four rescued victims were identified as Lawali Ali, Samaila Shuaibu, Kasimu Shuaibu and Aliyu Bala, all indigenes of Wasagu Village. They were subsequently handed over to the community head.
The successful operations highlight the continued efforts of troops to protect vulnerable communities, disrupt criminal activities and prevent terrorists from operating freely within the area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across its area of responsibility, assuring residents that troops would continue to respond promptly to security threats.
