Troops Rescue Abducted Locals, Neutralise Two Terrorists in Katsina Operation
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, have rescued abducted locals, neutralised two terrorists and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Katsina State.
The operation, conducted under Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV, followed a distress call reporting the activities of terrorist elements in Kurudu Village, Kankia Local Government Area of the state.
Responding swiftly to the alert, the troops, supported by personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists.
According to the military, the troops brought superior firepower to bear, neutralising two terrorists and forcing others to flee into the surrounding bushes. The fleeing elements subsequently abandoned the abducted locals, who were rescued unharmed.
During a follow-up search of the area, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and two magazines loaded with live ammunition.
Troops and NDLEA Raid Drug Location in Kafur
In a separate operation, Sector 2 troops, working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), conducted an intelligence-led raid at Gozaki Village in Kafur Local Government Area on August 14, 2026.
The operation resulted in the recovery of various suspected illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol capsules, Exol-5, D10 tablets, D5 tablets and Pregabalin capsules.
The recovered substances were secured and handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action.
The operations demonstrate the growing synergy between the military, community-based security personnel and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping and illicit drug trafficking in Katsina State.
The security forces have continued to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at protecting communities, disrupting criminal networks and denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the state.
