Sheikh Faisal bin Abdul Malik Nu’man, the renowned and much-loved muezzin of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, has passed away after a period of illness, drawing heartfelt tributes from across the Muslim world.

For many years, Sheikh Faisal’s voice was a defining sound of the Prophet’s Mosque. His soulful and steady call to prayer echoed through the sacred courtyards, reaching worshippers inside the mosque and millions more who listened through radio, television and live broadcasts. For countless Muslims, his adhan was closely associated with moments of devotion, peace and spiritual reflection in one of Islam’s holiest sites.

Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Faisal dedicated much of his life to the service of the Haramayn. He was appointed as a muezzin at Masjid an-Nabawi after years of commitment to Quranic recitation and religious service, joining a lineage of callers to prayer whose role dates back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His calm delivery, clarity of pronunciation and deep reverence for the sanctity of the mosque earned him widespread respect among scholars, worshippers and colleagues.

Beyond his role at the microphone, those who knew him describe Sheikh Faisal as humble, disciplined and deeply devoted to his faith. He approached the adhan not as a performance, but as an amanah (trust), believing the call to prayer to be a sacred invitation drawing hearts toward Allah.

News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of prayers and condolences, with many recalling how his voice accompanied their visits to Madinah or became part of their daily worship from afar.

Sheikh Faisal bin Abdul Malik Nu’man leaves behind a legacy etched not in words, but in moments of prayer that connected millions to the remembrance of Allah.
