The event, held under the reign of Ogiame Atuwatse III, marked the ceremonial transition of palace watch duties from the outgoing Olobe Community to the incoming Ugbolokposo Community.
From their grand arrival, the Ugbolokposo people captivated the audience with energetic dance steps and melodious performances, setting the tone for a colourful and memorable occasion. The highlight of the ceremony featured the traditional dance drama, a symbolic and playful contest between both communities for the right to remain within the palace grounds. In line with longstanding custom, the incoming Ugbolokposo Community emerged victorious, officially taking over their quarter of service.
The procession into the palace was led by prominent chiefs, including Ojoye Francis Omatseye, the Udefi of Warri (Obaloye), and Ojoye Prest Udueyin, the Akwinotsokan of Warri (Adobodoji), alongside a proud display of sons and daughters of the community.
Adding to the grandeur of the event were cultural showcases by other ethnic groups residing in Warri, including Igbo, Ilaje, and Yoruba communities. Their participation, led by respective Ambassage Chiefs, reflected the inclusive and cosmopolitan nature of the Warri Kingdom.
In his royal message, the Olu of Warri warmly welcomed the Ugbolokposo Community, offering blessings for a successful tenure and commending all attendees for upholding the rich cultural traditions of the kingdom.
