Ishiagu Community Gears Up for Development with 40-Committee Powerhouse
The Ishiagu Community Development Union (ICDU) in Ebonyi State has taken a bold step towards accelerating socio-economic development by forming a diverse team of 40 committees.
This strategic move was officially launched at the community’s civic centre on Thursday, with President-General Moses Aja leading the inauguration ceremony in Ishiagu town.
In an address to the press, Mr. Aja emphasised that the committee’s formation aligns with the ICDU’s core principles and legal framework.
“Establishing these statutory committees, including education, works, finance, and audit, is embedded in our constitution,” he explained.
“Furthermore, with the General Assembly’s approval, we’ve created specialised ‘special purpose vehicles’ (SPVs) focused on speeding up progress in areas like healthcare, youth development, infrastructure, and more.”
Examples of these SPVs include committees for a new stadium, a children’s park, modern markets, and electricity reticulation. By harnessing the expertise and dedication of community members, these committees aim to deliver tangible improvements in various sectors.
“Bringing together diverse talents is crucial for our ambitious vision,” Mr. Aja stated.
“Not only will it expedite development, but it fosters a sense of ownership among residents. When people participate in shaping their community, they feel invested in its success.”
Recognising the immense task of community advancement, Mr. Aja highlighted the importance of collective effort. “Building Ishiagu’s future cannot be solely on the shoulders of a few,” he asserted. “Therefore, we’ve gathered skilled individuals from all corners of the community to join forces. Together, we can transform our dreams into reality.”
He concluded by urging committee members to embrace their crucial roles and serve the community with unwavering commitment. “We are embarking on a journey of significant change,” he declared. “By harnessing the combined energy and passion of these committees, we will unlock a brighter future for Ishiagu.“
