Minister of Foreign Affairs Mourns Fallen Soldiers, Calls Okuama Tragedy a National Loss

The tragic killing of military personnel in Okuama Community, Delta State, has been labeled a national tragedy by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
The sombre declaration came during a solemn gathering at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where top military officials convened to pay respects to the fallen heroes.

Expressing heartfelt condolences, Amb. Tuggar extended sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Defence Headquarters, and the bereaved families, acknowledging the profound loss endured. He fervently prayed for the departed souls and urged divine strength for the grieving families in coping with their immeasurable sorrow.
“I urge the relevant authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act,” he said, emphasising the importance of accountability and closure for the affected families and the nation as a whole.
The tragic incident occurred as troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army embarked on a peacekeeping mission amid escalating tensions between the Okuama and Okoloba Communities in Delta State, highlighting the precariousness of the situation and the sacrifices made by servicemen in the line of duty.
Alkasim Abdulkadir, the Minister’s Media and Communications Strategy Advisor, echoed the sentiments of national mourning, emphasising the profound impact of the Okuama tragedy on the collective conscience of the nation.
