In a significant step towards advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cisco today. The collaboration aims to leverage Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) Programme to drive sustainable, secure, and inclusive digital communities across Nigeria.
Cisco’s CDA Programme, a global initiative, partners with government and private sector leaders to develop innovative technology solutions that empower communities. Through this partnership, the Federal Government of Nigeria will work alongside Cisco, industry players, and academia to accelerate the nation’s digitization agenda.
The key focus areas of the collaboration include repurposing NCAIR to establish an AI and Cybersecurity Experience and Incubation Center, setting up a Broadband Innovation Center, establishing a Smart Agriculture Demo Farm, designing and deploying Technology Learning Hubs, and incubating Defense Technology Solutions.
The MOU signing ceremony took place at the NITDA Headquarters, with Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi CCIE, the Director-General of NITDA, and Clayton Naidoo, the Senior Director of the Cisco Country Digital Acceleration Programme, representing their respective organizations.
This partnership is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority areas, emphasizing the acceleration of diversification through digitization and innovation, strengthening national security for peace and prosperity, and enhancing agriculture to achieve food security.
