The operation followed a distress call reporting the abduction of worshippers at an ECWA Church in the community. Acting swiftly, troops mobilised to the scene and, with guidance from local residents, pursued the fleeing attackers.

During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them with superior firepower. The sustained pressure forced the attackers to abandon 31 hostages, including one injured victim who is currently receiving medical attention.

However, security operatives also recovered the bodies of five victims who were killed by the terrorists before the rescue operation.

Military sources indicated that the fleeing attackers likely sustained significant casualties, as blood trails were observed along their escape routes.

Troops have since intensified pursuit operations to track down the perpetrators and rescue any remaining captives, while additional personnel have been deployed to the area to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining national security, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
