CAC Evangelist Condemns Killing of Pastor, Abduction of Worshippers in Ekiti, Demands Urgent Action

The General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Ojo Emmanuel Ademola, has strongly condemned the killing of a pastor and abduction of worshippers during a church programme in Eda Oniyo Ekiti, Ekiti State, describing the incident as “barbaric” and a threat to national stability.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ademola expressed “profound sorrow and righteous indignation” over the attack, which he said reflects a growing pattern of violence against religious communities across the country.
The cleric warned that attacks on places of worship should be treated as more than isolated security breaches, noting that such incidents strike at the moral foundation of society.
“When armed men invade a place of worship, murder a pastor at the altar, and abduct innocent worshippers, this constitutes not merely an assault on the Church, but a grave attack on the collective conscience of our nation,” he said.
He extended condolences to the family of the slain pastor, the affected congregation, and the Christian community in Ekiti State, while calling for the immediate rescue of those abducted during the incident.
Ademola also raised concerns over what he described as a recurring pattern of attacks on churches, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities, warning that repeated incidents without decisive intervention could embolden criminal elements.
“This tragedy is not an isolated case. It has happened before, and it is happening again,” he said, adding that reactive responses from authorities were no longer sufficient.
The CAC leader urged the Federal Government, Ekiti State Government, and security agencies to take urgent and concrete steps, including the rescue of victims, arrest and prosecution of perpetrators, and deployment of intelligence-driven security measures to protect religious gatherings.
He stressed that justice must be swift and transparent, warning that delays could further undermine public confidence and encourage impunity.
Addressing members of the church, Ademola called for vigilance and continued prayer, while urging Christians not to abandon their faith despite the rising insecurity.
“The Church must not retreat, but we must remain discerning and prepared,” he said.
The incident in Ekiti adds to growing concerns over security challenges in parts of the country, particularly attacks targeting vulnerable communities and places of worship.
