Fire Engulfs Bono Energy Terminal in Lagos

A fire outbreak has engulfed the Bono Energy Terminal along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway in the Coconut area of Olodi Apapa, Lagos, prompting an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, saw firefighters and other emergency personnel deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities in the densely populated industrial corridor.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, said emergency responders were actively working to bring the situation under control.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire outbreak at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been established, while there was no official confirmation of casualties or the extent of damage to the facility. Authorities said investigations would commence after the fire had been fully contained.

The latest incident has renewed concerns over safety at fuel depots and tank farms located within the Apapa industrial axis, an area that houses several petroleum storage and distribution facilities.

Emergency agencies are expected to provide further updates as rescue and firefighting operations continue.
