Lagos Police Arrest 147 Suspected Hoodlums in Statewide Security Sweep

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected hoodlums during a statewide security operation aimed at flushing out criminal elements and enhancing public safety across the state.

The operation, codenamed “Operation Ko Si Aye,” formed part of the Command’s ongoing boundary sweep exercise and entered Phase III on Saturday, July 19, 2026.

According to police sources, told Zagazola Makama the exercise was coordinated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and simultaneously carried out across strategic locations in Lagos State.

The operation commenced at about 6:00 a.m., with teams of officers deployed to identified flashpoints as part of intensified efforts to combat crime, dismantle criminal hideouts, and improve security throughout the state.

During the coordinated raid, police operatives arrested 147 suspects believed to be involved in various criminal activities. Officers also recovered several exhibits suspected to be linked to criminal operations, although details of the recovered items were not immediately disclosed.

The Lagos State Police Command said all suspects are currently in custody undergoing screening and profiling, while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.

The Command added that those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the conclusion of investigations.

Police authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations and proactive policing to ensure the safety of residents, urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and enhancing security across Lagos State.
