Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two persons who were attacked and abducted by terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The rescue followed a swift response by troops who, while conducting a routine patrol on September 4, 2026, observed armed terrorists attacking two individuals travelling on a motorcycle.
According to military authorities, the troops immediately mobilised towards the scene after sighting the attackers.
The intervention forced the terrorists to flee into the surrounding terrain, abandoning their victims at the scene.
The troops subsequently secured and rescued the two victims, bringing the incident to a successful conclusion without further harm to them.
Following the attack, security forces intensified patrols and other operational activities across the area to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements.
The military said the intensified operations are aimed at strengthening security along major routes and protecting residents and road users from further attacks and abductions.
It added that sustained troop presence and aggressive patrols remain part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, protect communities and restore freedom of movement across affected areas of Zamfara State.
The latest operation highlights the importance of proactive patrols and rapid response in preventing attacks and rescuing victims of terrorist activities in the region.
