The engagements, conducted under the theme, “Integrating Emerging Technologies for National Security,” took the delegation to the Brunei Defence Academy and the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies.

During the visit to the Brunei Defence Academy, the Exercise Director and Commandant of the Air Force War College Nigeria, Air Vice Marshal GA Mbaka, paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Academy. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including professional military education, leadership development and institutional collaboration.

The Nigerian delegation also received briefings on the academy’s mandate and its role in preparing military leaders to address evolving security challenges in the contemporary operating environment.

At the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies, participants were exposed to insights on modern security threats, strategic policy development and the growing impact of emerging technologies on national security and defence planning. The engagement provided an avenue for exchanging ideas on innovation, strategic foresight and capacity building.

Speaking during the visit, Air Vice Marshal Mbaka expressed appreciation to the leadership of both institutions for the warm reception and valuable presentations, noting that the engagements had enhanced participants’ understanding of how emerging technologies can be strategically applied to address contemporary security challenges.

He said the study tour forms part of efforts to broaden the knowledge and professional outlook of participants while strengthening international cooperation in defence and security matters.

The visit, according to the delegation, underscores the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to advancing professional military education, building strategic partnerships and exploring innovative approaches to tackling modern security challenges.
