The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, following the successful upgrade of the Pilgrim Terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The upgraded terminal is designed to improve passenger comfort and operational efficiency, providing pilgrims and other travellers with modern facilities that meet international aviation standards.
Among the newly introduced features are a 300-seat passenger waiting area, modern VIP and VVIP lounges, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a fully air-conditioned mosque, as well as enhanced passenger screening and security systems.
Speaking during the inspection of the facility, the Minister and the FAAN Board Chairman praised the Authority’s efforts in delivering a more comfortable, secure and passenger-friendly terminal, noting that the project reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving airport infrastructure across the country.
They described the upgrade as another milestone in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s aviation sector, aimed at enhancing passenger experience, strengthening airport operations and positioning the country’s airports to meet global best practices.
The project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development, improved service delivery and the modernisation of critical national assets.
The upgraded Pilgrim Terminal is expected to provide a more seamless travel experience for pilgrims and other airport users while reinforcing FAAN’s commitment to delivering world-class airport facilities across Nigeria.
