Introduction: Naming the Root of the Crisis
The truth of the matter concerning the protracted crises and divisions in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas is neither hidden nor complicated. It is the truth that many prefer not to speak, but which history, Scripture, and the Spirit demand must be told. The crisis is the direct consequence of the master‑grand rebellion of 1990, orchestrated by the Christ Initiative Forum, which later metamorphosed into the CAC General Executive Council (GEC) faction. This rebellion, illegitimate in its origin and destructive in its fruit, is the fountainhead of the counter‑rebellions we are witnessing today.

The truth will never be told by the Forum, the GEC beneficiaries, their paid staff, or their progenies and sympathisers. But the truth must be told by those who carry the prophetic burden of renewal. Renewal Theology insists that revival begins with confrontation, and confrontation begins with naming the sin that has wounded the body. God is the only hope of CAC. And He will do something soon. But before He restores, He requires repentance, truth, and courage.
The Covenant of Latter Rain Revival Still Speaks
CAC Nigeria and Overseas is not merely a denomination; it is a covenantal movement. The Covenant of Latter Rain Revival, sealed through the travail of Apostle Ayo Babalola and the fathers, remains unbroken. This covenant demands holiness, unity, revival, and apostolic governance. It is the covenant that gave CAC its prophetic identity as the true visible Church in Nigeria and beyond.
Yet rebellion has sought to silence this covenant. The GEC of 1990 and the Supreme Executive of 2017 represent two fractures in the body—two departures from the One Mat God laid. Both factions have held conferences, both have claimed legitimacy, both have perpetuated division. But their posture is nothing but that of “Ogiri ti akun lefun” (Acts 23:3)—a whitewashed wall, appearing strong outwardly but hollow within. The covenant still speaks. And it speaks against rebellion, illegitimacy, and hypocrisy. It speaks for truth, unity, and revival.
The Master‑Grand Rebellion of 1990
The rebellion of 1990 was not a minor disagreement; it was a foundational rupture. The Christ Initiative Forum, dissatisfied with apostolic order, created a parallel structure—the GEC. This act was not authorised by the Articles of Association of 1943 or the Certificate of Incorporation of 1985. It was rebellion, pure and simple. From this rebellion flowed corruption, fragmentation, and institutional confusion. The GEC became the epicentre of division, and its existence legitimised counter‑rebellions. Renewal Theology teaches that rebellion is systemic: once a false foundation is laid, it produces fruit across generations. The GEC rebellion is the seed from which today’s chaos has grown.
The Counter‑Rebellion of 2017
In 2017, the Supreme Executive emerged as another faction, claiming to correct what the GEC had distorted. But in reality, it perpetuated the same spirit of rebellion. Instead of returning to the One Mat, it created another parallel structure. Instead of repentance, it offered competition. Instead of unity, it deepened division. Thus, CAC Nigeria and Overseas now suffers under two illegitimate structures—the GEC and the Supreme Executive—both claiming legitimacy, both holding conferences, both perpetuating fragmentation.
The Supreme Executive’s Dissolved Certificate: A Confession of Illegitimacy
The Christ Apostolic Church Supreme Executive Worldwide, once members of the authentic CAC Supreme Council, carried out what can only be described as a palace coup in 2017 against the legitimate leadership of the Council. In December 2022, they procured a Certificate of Incorporation under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), attempting to cloak their rebellion in legality. But legality without legitimacy is hypocrisy. Scripture calls such hypocrisy “ogiri ti aku lefun”—a whitewashed wall, outwardly impressive but inwardly hollow.
By March 2025, public notices circulated in Nigerian national newspapers announcing the official dissolution of this certificate. The dissolution was not an act of humility; it was a forced confession. It was an admission that their structure could not stand under the weight of truth. The members of the Supreme Council had exposed the illegitimacy of the Supreme Executive’s foundation, and under scrutiny, their façade collapsed. Renewal Theology teaches that rebellion cannot withstand the light of truth; false foundations crumble when confronted by apostolic order. The dissolution of the certificate is therefore a prophetic sign: rebellion always collapses when confronted by divine order.
Renewal Theology and the Call to Repentance
Renewal Theology insists that revival cannot flourish where rebellion remains unchallenged. The Spirit does not anoint illegitimacy. The covenant does not sanctify rebellion. The Church cannot be restored until the root is confronted. Therefore, my emphasis in all my writings remains this: the GEC and the Supreme Executive must publicly apologise for the divisions they caused. They must repent openly, confess their rebellion, and dismantle their illegitimate structures. Without this, CAC cannot return to the sweetness of its honey. Repentance is not humiliation; it is restoration. Apology is not weakness; it is strength. Truth is not sentiment; it is covenant fidelity.
Ogiri ti akun lefun: The Apostolic Verdict
The great Apostle Paul, when confronted with hypocrisy, declared: “God shall smite thee, thou whited wall” (Acts 23:3). This verdict applies prophetically to the factions of CAC today. The GEC and the Supreme Executive appear outwardly strong, holding conferences, issuing communiqués, organising programmes. But inwardly, they are hollow, illegitimate, and rebellious. They are ogiri ti aku lefun—whitewashed walls. They cannot stand in the day of Christ. They cannot carry the covenant of Latter Rain Revival. They cannot restore the Church.
The True Visible Church
CAC Nigeria and Overseas was once known as the true visible Church in Nigeria—a Church of holiness, revival, and apostolic authority. This identity has been compromised by division, rebellion, and illegitimacy. But the true visible Church still exists. It exists wherever holiness is pursued, unity is preserved, revival is embraced, and apostolic order is honoured. The factions must repent, but the faithful must remain steadfast. The covenant still speaks, and the Spirit still calls.
The Imminent Second Coming of Christ
The crisis of CAC is not merely administrative; it is eschatological. The imminent Second Coming of Christ demands that the Church be found faithful, not fragmented; consecrated, not compromised; united, not divided. Every rebellion will be judged. Every illegitimate structure will be dismantled. Every false foundation will be exposed. The Bridegroom is at the door. The trumpet is near. The Church must align with the One Mat God laid.
Conclusion: A Call to Courage and Restoration
The Christ Apostolic Church stands at a crossroads. One path leads to political entanglement, institutional confusion, and spiritual decline. The other leads to heritage, revival, unity, and apostolic restoration. The choice before us is clear. The sweetness of our honey can be restored, but only through repentance, truth, and a return to the foundations laid by our fathers.
May CAC choose the path of truth. May every illegitimate structure be confronted with courage. May the Church return to its ancient landmarks. May the covenant of Latter Rain Revival speak again with power. And may we all walk faithfully in the footsteps of our fathers as we await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For the Bridegroom is at the door. The trumpet is near. The covenant still speaks. Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit is saying to CAC Nigeria and Overseas.
