The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engineer Simi Wabote, has called for more efforts to harness the opportunities in the oil and gas sector.

Wabote made the call during the dinner organised by Coleman Wire and Cables to kick-start the 12th Practical Nigerian Content Forum in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Warmly welcoming participants, he further stated that the event, designated to run until the 7th of December, would “explore how to deepen oil and gas local content in the face of an energy crisis and share ideas.”

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Coleman Wires and Cables, George Onafowokan, stated that his organisation was proud to be part of the event.

“Our story is the story of NCDMB, growing from a small business to the largest on the continent,” he said.

The forum has the theme “Deepening Nigerian Content Amidst Divestments, Domestication, and Decarbonisation.”

In an interview after the dinner, the corporate account manager at Future Concerns Limited expressed excitement about being part of the event, highlighting the opportunity to take stock of the progress made in the oil and gas sector and gain insight into the future. “We are one of the companies that have benefited from the drive for local content within Nigeria. We are here to showcase what we can do in terms of safety and other aspects that the company can provide.
