The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, love, and cooperation as essential ingredients for national growth and development.

He made this call while breaking the Ramadan fast with Muslim faithful at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, emphasizing his people-centric leadership and commitment to fostering national cohesion.

Speaking in the spirit of Ramadan, General Musa highlighted the divine purpose of Nigeria’s diverse religious and ethnic composition, stressing that citizens must see themselves as one and work together to build a stronger nation.

“Let’s always remember that God Almighty is the one who has created us, who has brought us to this world, and who has put us together as Nigerians,” he stated.

“Anyone looking at us cannot distinguish who is a Christian or a Muslim, and that is because God has a purpose for uniting us not to destroy ourselves but to uplift one another.”

Drawing attention to the significance of the moment, General Musa pointed out that while Muslims were observing the sixth day of fasting, Christians were also observing Lent.

He described this as a divine coincidence, reinforcing the need for religious tolerance and mutual respect.

The CDS further reflected on his upbringing in Sokoto, recalling how Ramadan had always been a period of unity and shared blessings.

“For me, this is like coming back home. This is how we are supposed to be living in Nigeria—harmoniously, as one family,” he said.

Commending the Defence Headquarters’ mosque committee and the event organizers, General Musa expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the gathering.

He urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country’s leadership, seeking divine intervention for wisdom and righteousness in governance.

“Let us continue to pray for our leaders so that God will touch their hearts to do the right thing. Let us also pray for our country’s security, that all evil-doers whether bandits, terrorists, or kidnappers will be exposed and brought to justice,” he added.

General Musa reaffirmed his confidence in Nigeria’s resilience and progress, assuring that despite challenges, the nation would continue to thrive.

He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt message to all Muslim faithful, saying, “Ramadan Mubarak.”
