ESN kills 2 soldiers as troops repel attack in Enugu

 

the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, on Wednesday, disclosed that troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) repelled an attack by the Eastern Security Network (ESN) on troops at Iggah/Asaba checkpoint in Enugu State.

Nwachukwu in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja said that the troops who were deployed to checkmate the activities of gunmen at Adani community in Enugu State came under attack ESN on Tuesday.

 

He revealed that during the gun battle two soldiers were killed.

 

He said, “The Troops deployed to checkmate the activities of gunmen at Adani community of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State was attacked on 13th July 2021 Eastern Security Network (ESN) Sadly, during the gun battle two soldiers paid the supreme price”.

 

Nwachukwu further said that the Troops are currently on the trail of the criminals.

 

“We assure the general public of our commitment to provide adequate security in the general area in collaboration with other security agencies.

 

“We also urge members of the public to complement the effort of the security agencies by remaining law-abiding and provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen,” the Brig-Gen said.
