Gov. Buni Upgrades Ngelzarma Primary Healthcare Centre to General Hospital
Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the upgrade of the Primary Healthcare Centre in Ngelzarma to a General Hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Yobe State.
The governor said the decision was informed by the growing population of Ngelzarma and neighbouring communities, which has increased the demand for quality healthcare services.
According to Buni, the upgrade aligns with his administration’s ongoing reforms in the health sector, describing healthcare development as one of the government’s top priorities.
“This is in line with the reforms declared in the health sector by our administration. Healthcare development occupies a prominent position on our priority list,” the governor said.
The latest upgrade follows similar interventions by the state government, which previously converted eight primary healthcare centres in Bara, Buni Gari, Babbangida, Yunusari, Machina, Jajimaji, Nguru and Gulani into General Hospitals.
The Buni administration also upgraded four General Hospitals in Potiskum, Gashua, Geidam and Buni Yadi to specialist hospitals to strengthen access to specialised healthcare services across the state.
Governor Buni assured residents that the state government would provide the necessary medical equipment and facilities required to ensure the upgraded Ngelzarma General Hospital meets the standards expected of a modern healthcare institution and delivers quality services to the public.
