Governor Mai Mala Buni has called on traditional and religious leaders, as well as parents, to prioritize the moral upbringing of the youth.

This appeal came during a visit from the newly appointed Emir of Tikau, Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, and his delegation.

Governor Buni emphasized the shared responsibility in addressing the decline in youth discipline and morality.

“It’s crucial for the government, traditional authorities, and parents to tackle the growing issues of indiscipline, moral decay, and drug abuse among our youth,” he stated.

In a bid to foster employment and food security, the governor announced support for 20 young farmers from each of the 178 political wards in the state, providing them with essential farm inputs for the upcoming season.

Governor Buni also encouraged the new Emir to uphold and surpass the legacy of his predecessor, promoting peace, unity, and development.

“Your father was a champion of peace and unity. You should aim to exceed his accomplishments to justify your selection as emir,” he advised.

The new Emir, Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, thanked Governor Buni and the Yobe state government for their support during the transition period following his father’s passing.

He pledged loyalty and cooperation with the state government and requested the rehabilitation of Sabon Garin Nangere hospital.

The Emir also vowed to continue his father’s initiatives, including peace-building, Zakkat distribution, and tree planting, for the betterment of the community.
