He made this call at the opening ceremony of the NAL’s 2024 National Creative Writing Capacity Workshop, held at the University of Abuja on Saturday.

He said that such a workshop would help improve the writing skills of civil servants, who often make errors in their official memos and reports.

He shared his experience as a former civil servant, who mentored one of his staff to become a better writer. “My little contribution, which was misunderstood earlier was appreciated by the staff who later presented me a gift when I retired from service.”

He also said that there are many civil servants who have the potential to become gifted writers, but they need encouragement and guidance.

Hon. Alagbaoso, who is the author of the plays ‘First Lady’, ‘What a Man Can Steal,’ and ‘Signs and Wonders’, praised the NAL for organising the workshop, which he said would boost the literary development of the country.

The workshop, which attracted the presence of the NAL President, Prof. Sola Akinrinade, Prof. Olu Obafemi, Mallam B.M.Dzukogi, Prof. Akachi Ezigbo, Mallam Denja Abdullahi, Dr. Uthman Akanbi, Prof. E. E. Sure and others, had 60 participants from across the country.

The facilitators of the workshop were Chinyere Obi-Obasi, Obari Gomba, Obinna Udenwe and Prof. Gbemisola Adeoti.
