The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) to tackle the spread of terrorism in West Africa and across Africa.
Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar made the pledge while receiving an IMCTC delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.
Acknowledging the regional threat, Badaru emphasised Nigeria’s readiness to support IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts, stressing the urgent need for coordinated action.
“We are ready and willing to work with you hand in hand to achieve the set objectives,” he stated, adding, “When discussing counterterrorism today, we must look at West Africa and Africa critically. It is bleeding, and we will support whatever action you take. These countries in this region need a lot of support.”
Badaru highlighted that Nigeria’s alliance with IMCTC underscores its commitment to both regional and global security, emphasising the value of unified efforts in confronting terrorism.
Major General Al-Moghidi, leading the IMCTC delegation, remarked on the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, noting that the visit aimed to bolster that partnership through intelligence sharing and training initiatives.
