Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Mocks Senate President Akpabio with Satirical ‘Apology’

By Matthew Eloyi

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken a scathing swipe at the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, posting a satirical apology letter on her verified Facebook page on Sunday.

In the heavily sarcastic letter, the senator “apologised” for possessing “dignity and self-respect” in the presence of the Senate President, accusing him of expecting compliance over competence in legislative dealings.

“It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence,” Akpoti-Uduaghan wrote.

She mockingly reflected on what she described as her “unforgivable failure” to realise that legislative success, in certain quarters, is not earned by merit but by yielding to personal demands.

“How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… ‘requests’ was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement,” she added.

Continuing in the same tone, the senator ‘apologised’ for prioritising “competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan said she now recognised the “catastrophic consequences” of her actions, including “legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes.”

She concluded the letter with a stinging line, suggesting her Senate seat was “earned through elections, not erections,” and signed off pledging eternal resistance.

Observers say the senator’s message, though satirical, highlights growing tensions within the Senate and points to underlying allegations of gender-based intimidation and entitlement at the highest levels of legislative authority.

As of the time of filing this report, Senate President Akpabio has yet to respond to the post.
