In a stirring call to action, the Olowu of Owu-Kuta Kingdom, Oba Adekunle Makama Oyelude, rallied Nigerian youths to unite and actively participate in the nation’s development, emphasising that current challenges are temporary setbacks. The monarch’s impassioned plea came during the inaugural Pinnacle Leadership and Entrepreneurship Summit held in Osogbo on Thursday.
Addressing a diverse audience, Oba Oyelude, bestowed with the title of Grand Mentor of the group, highlighted the importance of youth empowerment and collaboration. He emphasised the significance of building robust networks to navigate life’s complexities and contribute meaningfully to society.
“Your network is your wealth,” declared the monarch, underscoring his commitment to supporting youth initiatives within the state. “I commend the efforts of these young individuals and pledge ongoing assistance. Human capital development is paramount, and I am dedicated to nurturing it.”
Encouraging youth involvement in policy formulation and entrepreneurial ventures, Oba Oyelude urged them to transcend divisive politics and remain focused on collective progress. “Our country needs unity, innovation, and constructive engagement, not division. Together, as non-partisan agents of change, youths can shape a brighter future for all.”
Echoing the monarch’s sentiments, panellists including Adewumi Adeyemi, Adedayo Oderinu, and Ayotunde Jimoh emphasised the importance of education and capacity building. Former Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Tunde Olatunji, emphasised the abundance of opportunities in sectors such as agriculture and technology, urging youths to seize them with determination.
The summit also provided a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their business ideas, with seven deserving individuals receiving grants and equipment to bolster their ventures. Abdulmalik Afolabi, speaking on behalf of the group, urged recipients to utilise the resources wisely and encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to remain patient and proactive in seeking opportunities.
As Nigeria grapples with various challenges, the Olowu of Kuta’s call for unity, resilience, and proactive engagement resonates as a beacon of hope for the nation’s youth. Embracing his message, young Nigerians are poised to harness their potential and chart a course towards a brighter tomorrow.
