Residents of Benue State have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for accelerating infrastructure development across the state, following the inspection of several ongoing and completed Federal and State Government projects by the Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
The inspection tour, held on Thursday, covered strategic projects, including the ongoing Buruku–Logo Bridge, Wurukum Overhead Bridge in Makurdi, the 22-kilometre Makurdi–Gboko Road, the completed High-Level Roundabout Interchange in Makurdi, and the Gboko Underpass and Interchange.
The Makurdi–Gboko Road, which forms part of Phase II of the Abuja–Keffi–Akwanga–Lafia–Makurdi Expressway, is expected to strengthen connectivity between North Central and South-East Nigeria and is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
The inspection was conducted under the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour, an initiative bringing together more than 40 editors and journalists to independently assess and document the implementation and impact of key Federal and State Government projects under the Tinubu administration.
Leading the delegation, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the projects reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to investing in critical infrastructure that promotes economic growth and improves the lives of Nigerians.
He explained that the Buruku–Logo Bridge, one of five Federal Government bridges currently under construction in Benue State, will reconnect communities, reduce travel time, improve access to markets for farmers, and enhance economic activities across Benue, Taraba and Adamawa States.
According to him, the projects are being financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, with adequate funding already in place to ensure timely completion.
The delegation also inspected the 25.6-kilometre Captain Dan Road from Lubona Junction to the Tor Tiv Palace, Food Basket Brewery Limited in Makurdi, and the Federal Government-funded rehabilitation of the Buruku–Gboko Water Treatment Plant at Ameladu Headworks, one of the state’s largest water infrastructure projects.
A major highlight of the tour was the 1,754-metre Buruku–Logo Bridge, which is expected to improve transportation, support agricultural productivity, strengthen regional trade, and connect communities across the River Benue to neighbouring Taraba State. The project is also creating employment opportunities for local residents, with more than 50 host community members currently engaged in its construction.
Residents expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for addressing long-standing transportation challenges through the bridge project, describing it as a transformative intervention that will eliminate dangerous river crossings, reduce boat accidents during the rainy season, and improve livelihoods across the affected communities.
Many also reaffirmed their support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the visible progress of ongoing infrastructure projects has strengthened public confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to national development.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ode, thanked the Federal Government for its continued investment in critical infrastructure across the state.
He described the ongoing Wurukum Overhead Bridge as a major intervention that will ease traffic congestion along the busy Abuja–Lafia–Makurdi–Enugu corridor, noting that the project was approved by President Tinubu following a request by Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The Deputy Governor also highlighted the state’s investment in the Makurdi Central Interchange and Underpass, describing it as a transformative project that will improve traffic flow, strengthen urban mobility and enhance connectivity within the Benue State capital.
The inspection tour reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure projects aimed at promoting economic development, improving connectivity and enhancing the quality of life for Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
