Troops Ambush Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Motorcycles, Communication Devices in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempted attack by members of the Lakurawa terrorist group in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that the terrorists were moving towards Ugwan Hassan Village with the intention of carrying out an attack. Acting swiftly on the information, troops mobilised to the area and established a tactical ambush at a known crossing point near the community.

According to a military statement, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower when they made contact, forcing them to abandon their mission and retreat in disarray.

During a subsequent exploitation of the area, the troops recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists for movement and logistics. Mobile phones and T&T communication radios were also recovered.

Among the items recovered was a Nigerien identity card belonging to one of the fleeing terrorists, identified as a national of the Tilbiri Region of the neighbouring Republic of Niger.

The military said troops have sustained an aggressive presence in the area through continuous patrols and are pursuing the fleeing terrorists to prevent them from regrouping or launching further attacks.

The successful operation highlights the importance of timely intelligence and proactive military action in disrupting terrorist activities and protecting communities across the North-West.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops are expected to maintain sustained pressure on terrorist elements while strengthening security around Dandi and neighbouring communities to safeguard residents and critical routes.
