COAS conducts groundbreaking ceremony of personnel quarters

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has laid the groundwork and foundation to construct Abdul Samad Rabiu Corporal and Below Quarters at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri Abuja.

This was contained in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.

According to the statement, the ceremony was part of efforts to provide conducive housing units for personnel of the Nigerian Army (NA).

The organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the NA is the Housing project, which is run by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa).

During the event, the Army Chief gave a speech in which he thanked ASR Africa, led by Chairman BUA Group Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu and his management group, for their admirable gift of helping the NA meet its housing demands.

He continued by saying that the initiative will significantly help overcome the massive infrastructural deficit that the NA is currently experiencing in Abuja.

The COAS stated that the NA under his leadership, will continue to give utmost priority to the welfare of personnel as crystalized in the third beam of his Command Philosophy, which is to provide Sound Administration and support to the home front of personnel as a major pillar.

General Lagbaja observed that stakeholders cannot afford to leave the burden of national security to the government alone. He called on other corporate organizations to emulate ASR Africa and support the government in meeting some of the essential needs of the security agencies.

The COAS appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tireless support of the NA. He equally extended his appreciation to members of the National Assembly for their understanding and goodwill since the inception of the 10th Assembly.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, represented the Chairman of the BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, as he gave his speech.

He explained that ASR Africa is a nonprofit organization that was founded to intervene and create development solutions in the areas of health, education, and social development.

He said that the company was able to assist the Armed Forces and other security agencies across the nation with the help of the security sector assistance grant. He also mentioned that the management is happy that the NA used the money intended for infrastructure development.

According to the CEO, ASR Africa’s contribution shows how committed the organization is to providing development solutions for Nigeria and all of Africa.
