First Lady describes construction of roads as symbol of development

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has described the construction of roads as the symbol of development for any Society.

Senator Tinubu stated this during the official commissioning of Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, Grand Pavilion, and Monument for Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife which coincides with the 50th Birthday Celebration of the Ooni of Ile-ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi held at Oduduwa Hall of the Institution on Thursday.

While emphasizing that, She graduated from the Institution, Forty – One years ago, the First Lady stressed the need to resuscitate the dilapidated structures of the Institution in the interest of the present generation and the generation yet unborn.

Senator Tinubu noted that the role of infrastructural revamp in tertiary Institutions could not be over-emphasized and donated a billion naira to the Institution.

She congratulated the Ooni as he marks his 50th Birthday Anniversary and, his wisdom, style of leadership, and the show of love to his subjects.
Earlier in his remark, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi explained that the construction of 2.7 kilometer road with glowing street Solar Lamps; the luminous, glowing, solar powered street lamps would provide a viable alternative for the goal-driven Obafemi Awolowo University students.

Oba Ogunwusi said, “the road will henceforth be known as “Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way” it is a symbolic of those many paths she has opened for youth, women, and the underprivileged in our society.The biggest hostel and pavilion in the history of Obafemi Awolowo University that bears her name represents her efforts to create spaces of learning, development, and empowerment for all.”

Also Speaking, the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi assured residents of good governance and appreciated the visit and efforts of the First Lady towards the development of the Institution.
