Adeniyi made the call during a courtesy visit to the Zonal Coordinator of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General Mohammed Babandede, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He described Customs as a critical stakeholder in the fight against financial crimes, stressing that sustained inter-agency cooperation remains vital to dismantling criminal networks undermining Nigeria’s economic growth.

According to him, the EFCC places high priority on strategic partnerships with sister agencies, noting that intelligence sharing and joint operations would significantly improve the effectiveness of enforcement efforts.

“The EFCC places high value on strategic partnerships with sister agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service. Through intelligence sharing and joint operations, we can more effectively tackle economic and financial crimes and safeguard Nigeria’s economic interests,” Adeniyi said.

He further urged Customs to continue supporting the Commission through data analysis, information sharing and watch-listing of suspects.

In his response, Assistant Comptroller-General Babandede commended the EFCC for its sustained efforts to rid the country of economic and financial crimes. He reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to supporting the Commission’s mandate, emphasising that collaboration between both agencies is crucial in addressing smuggling, revenue leakages and other forms of economic sabotage.

“The Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to working closely with the EFCC to curb smuggling, revenue leakages, and other forms of economic sabotage. Our collaboration is essential to achieving a safer and more prosperous Nigeria,” Babandede said.
