The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has dismissed allegations made by former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, describing them as baseless and aimed at misleading members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, the minister said claims that he influenced party processes through financial inducement were false, reckless, and defamatory.

He stressed that such accusations lacked credible evidence and were capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party.

Yuguda had earlier stated that his priority remained the unity of APC members in Bauchi State and the party’s victory, alongside that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2027 general elections.

He also denied the existence of any petition against him and accused the minister of sponsoring internal divisions due to alleged gubernatorial ambitions.

However, Tuggar maintained that he has remained a loyal founding member of the APC, committed to strengthening party structures through due process, consultation, and respect for internal democracy.

He noted that all his engagements with the party’s National Working Committee were conducted through legitimate channels.

The statement further clarified that the dispute centres on the position of APC State Secretary, which stakeholders in Katagum Zone have agreed should remain with the current officeholder.

It alleged that the controversy arose from attempts by Yuguda to unilaterally replace the official, a move resisted by party leaders in the zone.

The minister also questioned Yuguda’s claims to party unity, citing his history of political defections across platforms, including the All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Reaffirming his focus on national duties, Tuggar said he remains committed to advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic interests under the Renewed Hope Agenda, while urging APC members in Bauchi State to prioritise unity, truth, and collective responsibility.
