EFCC Arrests Suspected Fake Football Agent Over Alleged ₦11m Fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Benin Zonal Directorate, have arrested one Osagie Destiny Etinosa over an alleged ₦11 million fraud.

The suspect was apprehended through intelligence gathered from open sources. He allegedly posed on Instagram, using the handle @officialking_etto, as a football agent claiming to connect players with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment opportunities.

In one of the reported cases, Etinosa is said to have collected ₦11,000,000 from Samuel Beke Ohazuruike with a promise to secure football trials in clubs in Romania and Bulgaria. The arrangement, however, never materialised, and efforts by the victim to recover his money were unsuccessful.

The EFCC confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The commission has continued to warn the public against falling victim to fraudulent schemes, particularly those exploiting opportunities in sports and international placements.
