Troops Rescue Two Kidnapped Women During Clearance Operations in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued two kidnapped women during coordinated clearance operations across Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

The operation, led by the Acting Commander of 1 Brigade, Colonel J. Umaru, targeted suspected terrorist hideouts around the Gizaza axis and Gando Forest.

During the operations, troops advanced through several communities, including Guruso, Nassarawa, Barayazaki, Masama Mudi, Tunganyara and Gwashi, forcing the suspected terrorists to abandon their hideouts and flee.

In the course of the operation along the Gando Forest corridor, the troops successfully rescued two abducted victims identified as 20-year-old Ikilima Sani and 18-year-old Shamsiyya Aliyu.

The rescue forms part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, eliminate criminal hideouts and protect residents from kidnapping and other security threats in the North-West.

The Army stated that troops had continued to maintain security along major transit routes and suspected criminal corridors through sustained patrols to protect commuters and residents.

The operation also highlights the military’s continued efforts to deny terrorists and other criminal groups freedom of movement, particularly in forest areas used as hideouts and operational bases.

The successful rescue is expected to boost confidence among residents of the affected communities and strengthen ongoing efforts to restore peace and security across Zamfara State.
