Army: 17 Brigade, Katsina, gets new Commander, seeks Officers’ support
The newly-deployed Commander, 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Katsina, Brig.-Gen. Ibikunle Ajose, on Saturday, resumed duty and called on the officers and men of the brigade to accord him the necessary support to succeed.
The brigade’s spokesperson, Lt. Sinivie Tamino, who disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Katsina, said Ajose took over from Brig.-Gen. Emmanuel Emekah.
He said Ajose while expressing gladness on the achievements of his predecessor, assured of his readiness to sustain and improve on the achievements.
“The New Commander further charged officers and men to remain steadfast and disciplined in discharging their duties.
“He demanded that they accord him maximum cooperation which is required for the attainment of the Brigade’s tasks and mission,” he said.
According to an official statement, “following a formal handing and taking over ceremony at the headquarters of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Katsina, Ajose has now officially taken over the affairs of the command.
“The exchange of baton is in compliance with the recent posting authority released by the Nigerian Army, which also redeployed Emekah to the Nigerian Defence Academy as Director of Military Training.
“Emekah, during his farewell address, thanked the officers and men of the Brigade for their efforts, commitment and contributions towards the successes achieved by the Brigade during his tour of duty as commander.
“And he urged them to sustain and improve on the gains, describing his successor as a man who is hard-working, result-oriented and without a doubt will deliver both operationally and administratively.”
“Highlights of the ceremony were the decoration of the new Commander with the 17 Brigade insignia and handing over of the Command flag.”
