The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Residence in Lagos to discuss developments in Nigeria’s national defence and security landscape.
The meeting focused on developments across the country’s various operational theatres, the evolving security environment and ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces to strengthen counter-insurgency and counter-banditry operations.
Musa said he briefed the President on measures being taken to improve the military’s response to emerging security threats and reviewed key requirements of the Armed Forces.
According to him, discussions also covered logistics, troop welfare, equipment, infrastructure and broader reforms aimed at building a more responsive and capable defence system.
The Defence Minister said President Tinubu’s continued attention to the welfare and operational needs of military personnel remained a source of encouragement to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces.
He expressed appreciation to the President for his guidance and confidence in the Ministry and the Armed Forces, stressing that the military remained committed to translating the administration’s support into tangible improvements in its operational capacity.
“Our commitment remains to convert that support into tangible improvements in our capacity to protect the Nigerian people,” Musa said.
