The Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media platforms claiming that the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, intends to resign from his position.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Ministry described the reports as “malicious and entirely fabricated,” stating that they were products of misinformation and mischief.
The statement clarified that General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities as Minister of Defence and is focused on delivering on his national security mandate while advancing Nigeria’s defence strategy.
“General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen,” the statement said.
The Ministry urged members of the public to disregard the rumour and advised media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information from official sources before publishing or sharing unconfirmed reports.
It further encouraged the public to rely on credible channels for accurate information regarding the activities and official engagements of the Minister of Defence.
