The Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, has paid a working visit to the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, at the agency’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on recent public concerns about NAFDAC, the agency’s achievements across key regulatory areas and challenges affecting its operations.
Discussions covered food safety, product registration and regulation, support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), pesticides and agrochemicals, post-marketing surveillance, investigation and enforcement, as well as the facilitation of import and export trade.
Particular attention was given to regulatory issues affecting Free Trade Zones and the auctioning of containers delayed at the nation’s ports.
The engagement highlighted the importance of addressing regulatory bottlenecks, improving coordination among relevant stakeholders and facilitating trade to create a more efficient and business-friendly environment.
The visit forms part of ongoing engagement between PEBEC and regulatory institutions to identify operational challenges and explore measures that can improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria while maintaining appropriate standards for public health and product safety.
