Shakira, Burna Boy to Perform Official World Cup Song at FIFA 2026 Opening Ceremony

Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy are set to perform the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song, “Dai Dai,” during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.

The announcement was made by FIFA ahead of the opening match of the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada. The pair will perform the song live for the first time at the opening ceremony in Mexico City on June 11.

“Dai Dai,” which translates to “let’s go” in Italian, has been described as a celebration of football, culture and global unity. The song blends Shakira’s Latin pop sound with Burna Boy’s Afrobeats style, reflecting the diversity and worldwide appeal of the FIFA World Cup.

FIFA said the performance will form part of a star-studded opening ceremony featuring several international artists and will set the tone for what is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events in history.

The song also supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising funds to provide children around the world with access to quality education and football opportunities.

For Burna Boy, the performance marks another major international milestone, while Shakira continues her long association with the FIFA World Cup, having previously delivered iconic tournament songs including Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) in 2010 and La La La (Brazil 2014).

Football fans around the world are expected to tune in as the two global superstars take centre stage to kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a performance celebrating the unifying power of the beautiful game.
