The Unifying Promise: The Remnants of CAC Nigeria and Overseas and the Call to Unity

By: Ojo Emmanuel Ademola

The Remnants of the CAC Nigeria and Overseas stand united on the unwavering promise of God, as expressed in the scripture: “The eagles shall gather where the carcass is.” This promise serves as a guiding light for the church, symbolizing a call for unity, alignment with divine authority, and a common purpose.

At the heart of this unity is the Certificate of Registration from 1985, numbered 147, which represents the foundational authority and legitimacy of the church. As custodians of this symbolic “carcass,” the Remnants urge all factions within the CAC to listen to God’s voice, dissolve their divisions, and unite around this central principle.

In this exploration, we delve into the profound significance of this call to unity and the transformative potential it holds for the body of Christ.

CAC Nigeria and Overseas has a rich history grounded in faith and divine healing. The church was originally established in 1918 as the Precious Stone Revival Movement and was later renamed Christ Apostolic Church in 1941. It emphasises faith healing, which is central to its doctrine and includes practices such as prayers, the use of sanctified water, and anointing oil.

The Bible states in James 5:15, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” This verse embodies the core belief of the Christ Apostolic Church: that healing can be attained through faith and prayer.

The church’s focus on divine healing is not merely a cultural tradition but rather a biblical mandate. According to Mark 16:17-18, it states, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

In the Christ Apostolic Church, the use of sanctified water and anointing oil symbolizes spiritual cleansing and empowerment. Psalm 23:5 states, “You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” This practice reflects the belief in God’s power to heal and protect His people.

As members of the Christ Apostolic Church, we stand firm in our faith and assert the power of God to bring healing and deliverance to those in need. We boldly declare, “By His stripes, we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Let us continue to pray fervently, trust unwaveringly, and believe wholeheartedly in the miraculous healing power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

However, since 1990, the CAC has faced significant factionalisation. This period has been marked by internal conflicts and power struggles, particularly involving key figures such as Pastor E.H.L. Olusheye. These conflicts often revolved around leadership disputes and differing visions for the church’s future. As a result, various factions have emerged within the church, each claiming legitimacy.

Let us reflect on the words of James 4:1-2: “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.” It is unfortunate that the Christ Apostolic Church has experienced division and strife among its members since 1990.

In times of conflict and division, it is crucial for us as believers to seek reconciliation and unity. Ephesians 4:3 encourages us, saying, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” As members of the body of Christ, we are called to work towards reconciliation and forgiveness, setting aside our personal desires and egos for the greater good of the church.

It is crucial for the leaders and members of the Christ Apostolic Church to remember the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” We should strive to be peacemakers, actively seeking resolution and harmony within the church while uniting around the common goal of spreading the Gospel and glorifying God.

In the face of factionalism and internal conflicts, let us remain steadfast in our faith, trusting the Lord to guide us toward unity and reconciliation. May we humble ourselves, seek forgiveness, and work towards healing the divisions within the Christ Apostolic Church. Amen.

The CAC Nigeria and Overseas has faced significant internal leadership conflicts over the years. These conflicts have often arisen from power struggles, differing visions for the church’s future, and historical grievances.

Addressing these issues requires a thoughtful and comprehensive approach, grounded in biblical principles and a commitment to peace and unity.

Issues:

  1. Power Struggles:

Leadership conflicts often emerge from competing interests and ambitions within the church hierarchy. These struggles can lead to factions and divisions, undermining the church’s mission and unity. At this critical juncture, the way forward for the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Nigeria and Overseas demands a steadfast commitment to the values of unity, harmony, and shared purpose. While leadership conflicts are inevitable in any organization, they must not overshadow the divine mission and calling of the church. It is imperative for all stakeholders within the CAC to set aside personal ambitions and differences in favor of a collective pursuit of the greater good.

Drawing inspiration from Scripture, we are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:2-3: “Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” This exhortation calls for a spirit of humility, mutual respect, and selflessness among the leaders and members of the CAC.

Furthermore, the CAC must reaffirm its commitment to the core principles of faith, healing, and divine intervention, which have been central to its identity since its inception. This unwavering faith in the power of prayer, sanctified water, and anointing oil must guide the church in seeking resolutions to internal conflicts and restoring unity within its ranks.

To address the current challenges facing the CAC, it is essential for all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue, guided by the principles of reconciliation and forgiveness. Only through genuine efforts toward reconciliation and a renewed focus on the shared vision of the church can the CAC overcome the divisions that threaten to weaken its foundations.

As the CAC moves forward, let us draw strength from the words of Psalm 133:1: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” With faith as our anchor and unity as our guiding light, the Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and Overseas can rise above the current challenges and emerge stronger, more united, and more resolute in its divine mission.

  1. Differing Visions:

Leaders within the church may have different visions for its direction, which can lead to disagreements on policies, practices, and priorities. When not managed properly, these differences can create tension and conflict.

In times of leadership conflict within the Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and Overseas, it is crucial for all parties involved to prioritize the greater mission of the church. While differing visions may exist, it is essential for leaders to come together in a spirit of unity and reconciliation. Scripture reminds us in Philippians 2:2-3 to be of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, and intent on one purpose. This serves as a reminder that church leaders should set aside personal agendas and egos for the collective advancement of the church.

Disagreements on policies, practices, and priorities should be seen as opportunities for dialogue and growth rather than sources of division. Proverbs 15:22 encourages us to seek counsel and wisdom from others, recognizing that a variety of perspectives can lead to sound decisions. By fostering open communication and actively listening to one another, leaders can better understand each other’s viewpoints and work towards a shared vision for the church.

As leaders within the Christ Apostolic Church, it is essential to demonstrate humility, grace, and a willingness to compromise for the greater good. Ephesians 4:3 calls us to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. By embracing these principles and committing to respectful dialogue and collaboration, the CAC can navigate through this challenging period of factionalisation and emerge stronger, united in purpose and mission for the glory of God.

  1. Historical Grievances:

Past conflicts and unresolved issues can resurface and fuel current disputes. Addressing these historical grievances is crucial for moving forward.

In the context of the current factionalisation within the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Nigeria and Overseas, it is essential to recognize how past conflicts and unresolved issues continue to impact present disputes. History has shown that unresolved grievances often resurface and perpetuate discord within organizations. Therefore, it is imperative for all parties involved to confront these historical wounds openly and honestly in order to pave the way for reconciliation and unity.

Addressing past conflicts requires humility, introspection, and a commitment to seeking truth and understanding. Leaders must be willing to engage in difficult conversations, acknowledge past wrongs, and work towards healing and forgiveness. Proverbs 28:13 teaches us that “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” By acknowledging and learning from past mistakes, the CAC can begin to chart a new course toward a more harmonious and unified future.

Furthermore, establishing mechanisms for conflict resolution and reconciliation within the church is vital to prevent the recurrence of past grievances. By creating spaces for dialogue, mediation, and restorative justice, the CAC can foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and mutual respect among its leaders and members. This proactive approach to addressing historical conflicts will help build trust, promote healing, and ultimately strengthen the church’s foundation for years to come.

As the Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and Overseas navigates this challenging period of factionalisation, it is crucial for all stakeholders to embrace the difficult but necessary task of addressing past conflicts. By doing so, the church can emerge stronger, more unified, and better equipped to fulfill its mission and purpose in serving God and His people.

Thought Processes:

In humbly acknowledging the scars of our past, we must courageously confront the conflicts and grievances that have affected our journey. Through open and honest dialogue, we have the opportunity to heal wounds, restore broken relationships, and pave the way toward reconciliation.

Transparency must be our guiding principle as we navigate the complexities of leadership and decision-making. By fostering a culture of openness and accountability, we can build trust among our members and leaders. Let us communicate clearly and honestly, shedding light on the motives and intentions behind our actions.

United in purpose and vision, we must rally around the common goals and values that bind us together as the body of Christ. Let us set aside personal ambitions and differences, focusing instead on our shared mission to serve God and His people with unwavering dedication and humility.

By elevating our minds to God’s divine wisdom, we surrender our human tendencies toward discord and division. Let us rise above the conflicts of the past and embrace a future guided by unity, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to the higher calling of our faith. Together, we can forge a path that honors God’s will and glorifies His name, for the Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and overseas.

Efforts toward reconciliation within the Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and Overseas have been ongoing, with leaders emphasizing the need for unity and addressing the underlying issues that have caused divisions. The church is striving for a future where it can refocus on its core mission of faith and spiritual renewal.

Amid these efforts, a clarion call emerges with urgency and determination: enough is enough. The time has come for peace to prevail among believers, for unity to overcome division, and for the glory of the Gospel of Christ Jesus to be magnified in all its splendour.

This collective resolve for peace and reconciliation arises from a profound understanding that the unity of the body of Christ is paramount, especially in a world marked by strife and division. By committing to sow seeds of reconciliation, forgiveness, and love, the church can enhance its witness and impact, drawing others closer to the transformative message of salvation and grace.

At this pivotal moment, as the call for peace resonates throughout the congregation, let it be clear that the time for division has passed, and the time for unity and restoration has arrived. May the Remnants of CAC Nigeria and Overseas stand as a beacon of light, radiating the glory of the Gospel of Christ Jesus in all its fullness, as a testament to the transformative power of faith, unity, and love.

The imagery of vultures gathering around a carcass serves as a powerful metaphor for the Remnants of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Nigeria and overseas. This imagery reflects their commitment to uniting in their pursuit of peace and revival within the church. Just as vultures are drawn to a source of sustenance, the Remnants of the CAC are coming together around core principles of faith, unity, and reconciliation, even in challenging circumstances.

In Matthew 24:28, Jesus uses a similar analogy when he states, “Wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather.” This verse reminds us of the instinct for birds of prey to congregate around a source of nourishment. Similarly, the Remnants of the CAC are gathering around the foundational values of peace, unity, and forgiveness, which serve as spiritual nourishment for the entire body of believers.

Isaiah 40:31 speaks of how those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength and soar on wings like eagles. This verse emphasizes the importance of trusting in the Lord to provide the guidance and strength needed for the journey ahead. The Remnants of the CAC are positioning themselves to receive God’s strength and wisdom as they strive for reconciliation and unity within the church.

Ezekiel 17:3-4 describes a great eagle with powerful wings and long feathers, symbolising a kingdom that can extend its influence far and wide. The Remnants of the CAC in Nigeria and overseas are positioning themselves as instruments of God’s peace and revival, spreading their wings to embrace all believers in a spirit of unity and love.

As the Remnants of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Nigeria and overseas gather around the promise of God, they embody the soaring spirit of eagles, boldly embracing the call for unity, peace, and revival within the church. Just as eagles are drawn to a source of sustenance, may the Remnants be drawn to the richness of God’s grace and mercy, spreading their wings wide to encompass all believers in the transformative power of faith and unity.

In the context of CAC Nigeria and overseas, the Certificate of Registration from 1985, bearing the number 147, symbolizes the foundational authority and legitimacy of the church. This document represents the official recognition and registration of the church, signifying its status as a legal entity and providing a framework for its operations and governance.

As the Remnants of the CAC hold this certificate in custody, it serves as a metaphorical “carcass” around which the various factions and groups within the church are called to gather. This “carcass” is not lifeless or decaying; rather, it is a powerful symbol of unity and common purpose. It acts as a unifying force that encourages all factions to align with the original vision and mission of the church, as represented by the registration document.

Just as eagles gather around a source of provision and sustenance, the factions within the CAC are called to listen to the voice of God and unite under the foundational authority represented by the Certificate of Registration. This act of surrender and alignment with the church’s original vision is essential for restoring unity and strength within the body of believers.

From an exegetical standpoint, we can draw parallels to biblical accounts where God’s people were called to gather around a central symbol of authority and unity. For example, in the Old Testament, the Israelites were instructed to rally around the Ark of the Covenant as a tangible representation of God’s presence among them. Likewise, the Certificate of Registration in the CAC serves as a tangible symbol of the church’s legal standing and foundational principles, which all factions are called to honour and uphold.

By aligning their own structures with the authority represented by the Certificate of Registration, the various factions within the CAC demonstrate their willingness to submit to God’s overarching authority and prioritise unity and reconciliation above individual interests. Just as eagles are drawn to a source of strength and nourishment, may the factions within the CAC be drawn to the unifying power of God’s Spirit as they gather around the foundational principles and vision of the church.

In conclusion, the prophetic promise that “the eagles shall gather where the carcass is” holds significant meaning for the CAC Nigeria and its branches overseas. The Remnants view the Certificate of Registration from 1985 as a sacred symbol of unity and divine authority, encouraging all factions to come together in alignment with God’s will. By listening to God’s voice and uniting under this foundational authority, the various factions within the church have the opportunity to experience renewal, reconciliation, and restored unity.

Just as eagles are drawn to sources of strength and nourishment, may the factions within the CAC be attracted to the unifying power of God’s Spirit, gathering around the church’s foundational principles and vision. The carcass symbolizes a source of provision and sustenance; may the CAC respond to this call for unity and discover renewed strength and vitality through their shared commitment to God’s divine purpose.
