President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose two-term tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026. The appointment was announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Professor Aina, who will turn 40 in July, is a renowned academic and systems expert with extensive experience in examination systems, digital infrastructure, and institutional reform. He is expected to become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.

The incoming registrar holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Aina began his professional journey with JAMB during his National Youth Service, gaining experience in national admissions and data management systems. Over the years, he has built a career at the intersection of technology, policy and public sector reforms.

He has also served as a consultant to major examination bodies including NECO, NABTEB and several state ministries of education, contributing expertise in ICT systems, examination integrity and digital process optimisation.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would leverage his experience and expertise to build on the reforms and achievements recorded under Professor Oloyede’s leadership at the examination body.
