According to the military, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of a group allegedly involved in producing and supplying locally made firearms to terrorist groups operating in the state.

The troops raided a secluded compound reportedly used by the suspects to conceal their activities and evade security detection. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, while two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers were arrested.

The military said the operation was conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, describing it as another major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and dismantle criminal networks across the North-West.

It noted that the raid forms part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s sustained campaign to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons and deny terrorists access to arms used to perpetrate violent attacks.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing preliminary interrogation. Investigations are also ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, as well as uncover its financiers and collaborators.

The Theatre Command commended the troops and partner security agencies for their professionalism and urged residents of the North-West to continue providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that public cooperation remains essential to ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and criminality in the region.

The statement was signed by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
